if you do go to asakusa make sure to look for a miniature shop, if i remember correctly it's on the right side of the alley and close to the temple. the shop itself is almost miniature it's so tiny. they have the most amazing little things, i always end up buying a few items whenever i go.

I just saw your comment on Decor8 and had to run over to your site because it said "Japan - booked!" We took a trip to Japan this summer for a few weeks and honestly, it was incredible and as a designer, you will love it. If you do decide to go to the Studio Ghibli Museum (as one commenter suggested) it is best to get the tickets before you leave home. It is wonderful, especially if you are a Miyazaki fan. Also in Tokyo, http://www.2121designsight.jp/schedule/index-e.html is a design museum that is really well done. However, all of the little things that you see everyday are what really throws it over the edge. Like little sweet characters everywhere and beautiful bowls of udon soup served by delightful people.

I recommend you to visit "Edo Tokyo Tatemono En (Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum)" if you are interested in seeing Japanese classic houses.

And if when you visit Kyoto, if you have any spare time, Nara is also great place to visit;-)( less than 1 hour from Kyoto by train).

I went 3 years ago on a school trip and I really want to go back again. It's wonderful place and you'll never forget it. Try and keep everything, especially the receipts and the bus tickets in Kyoto are mega pretty, get a weekly pass it's cheaper and works for the subway too. oooh and watch out for the floral manhole covers. have fun!

you're going to have an amazing time. i had almost the exact same trip last october, and it was fantastic..

we never made it to osaka (it's farther away than you think) and overall we wish we spent more time in kyoto (rent bikes, it's great!)
